LEADERSHIP AND INFLUENCE
Professional Development Series (PDS) Course

This one-day course focuses on the participant's ability to lead and influence others in the areas of emergency management by increasing their range of skills in such areas as: conflict management, use of power and group dynamics. During the course each participant will have the opportunity to learn about themselves and their style of leadership through the administration of several standardized evaluation instruments. They will also work on and present a plan for influencing someone.

This course is for appropriate for individuals who want to learn about their leadership styles and how to influence people.

THIS COURSE HAS BEEN SHORTENED TO ONE DAY FROM ITS ORIGINAL TWO DAY FORMAT. TO SUCCESSFULLY COMPLETE THIS COURSE, BOTH THE CLASSROOM PORTION AND THE CORRESPONDING INDEPENDENT STUDY COURSE MUST BE COMPLETED. THE INDEPENDENT STUDY COURSE IS AVAILABLE BY ACCESSING FEMA'S WEBSITE. AFTER RECEIVING YOUR COMPLETION CERTIFICATE, PLEASE SEND A COPY TO IEMA, 2200 SOUTH DIRKSEN PARKWAY, SPRINGFIELD, ILLINOIS 62703 SO IT CAN BE ADDED TO YOUR OFFICIAL TRANSCRIPT. FOLLOWING THE RECEIPT OF THE INDEPENDENT STUDY CERTIFICATE AND COMPLETION OF THE CLASSROOM PORTION, YOUR COURSE CERTIFICATE WILL BE MAILED TO YOU. AT THIS POINT THE COURSE WILL BE ACCEPTED FOR BOTH THE PDS AND THE IPEM PROGRAM.

However, the cutoff date for lodging is 7 days prior to class.
